An Android email app built for privacy
Everything you need for private email on your Android phone, from encrypted messages to aliases, in one free app.
Encrypted before it leaves your phone
Messages and attachments to other Atomic Mail users are encrypted on your Android device with AES-256, RSA-2048 and ECIES, so only the person you write to can read them.
Zero-access mailbox
The mail stored on our servers is encrypted with keys we don't have, so Atomic Mail staff can't read your inbox.
Aliases from the compose screen
Pick one of your 10 free aliases in the From field as you write, so apps and sites you sign up for on your phone never see your main address.
Private messages to anyone
Add a password to a message or give it an expiry time, even when the person you're writing to uses Gmail or Outlook.
AI spam and phishing filters
Suspicious mail and phishing attempts are filtered by AI before they land in your inbox.
No phone number, no backup email
Create an address in the app without handing over a phone number or a backup email. A seed phrase you keep offline is how you recover the account.
How to set up Atomic Mail on Android
Setup takes a couple of minutes, and there's nothing to configure in Gmail or Samsung Email.
Install the app from Google Play
Tap Get it on Google Play on this page, or search for Atomic Mail: Private Email in the Play Store, and install it. It's free.
No Play Store? Use the APK
Download the APK from atomicmail.io/download and open it. Android may ask you to allow installs from your browser before the app installs.
Create an address or sign in
Open the app and create a new @atomicmail.io address with no phone number, or sign in with the account you already use on iPhone, Mac, Windows or the web.
Keep your seed phrase safe
New accounts get a seed phrase. Store it offline, away from your phone: it's how you get back in if you forget your password or lose the device.
Or skip the install
Open atomicmail.io in Chrome or another mobile browser and sign in. It's the same account with the same encryption.
Your Android email app and your email provider aren't the same thing
Samsung Email and the Gmail app are email clients for Android: they show mail from whichever accounts you add. Atomic Mail is an email provider with its own Android app, so it decides how your mail is encrypted and stored.
What that means on your phone:
App vs provider. The app on your home screen displays mail. The provider is where your address and mailbox live, and where privacy is decided.
Encrypted on the device. Atomic Mail encrypts messages to other Atomic Mail users on your phone, not only while they travel.
Separate from your Google account. Your Atomic Mail address isn't the Google account your phone signs in with, so your email isn't tied to it.
Not in the Gmail app yet. Atomic Mail has no IMAP access today, so it can't be added to Gmail or Samsung Email. Use the Atomic Mail app or your browser. IMAP is on the roadmap.
Keep what you have. Leave Gmail on your phone for existing accounts and use Atomic Mail for private email.
Atomic Mail vs Gmail on Android
Gmail comes preinstalled on most Android phones. Here's how it compares with Atomic Mail for personal email.
Business email on Android
Need a work address on your phone? Atomic Mail Business gives your team email on your own domain, like you@yourcompany.com, with end-to-end encryption, shared addresses such as support@ and admin controls. Staff read work mail in the same Atomic Mail apps, Android included. Plans start at $3 per user per month.
