A Windows email app made for privacy
Atomic Mail gives your PC its own encrypted inbox, with the room of a desktop screen and the same protection as the mobile apps.
Encrypted on your PC before sending
Mail and attachments you send to other Atomic Mail users are encrypted on your computer with AES-256, RSA-2048 and ECIES, so they stay unreadable until the recipient opens them.
Zero-access storage
The copy of your mailbox on our servers is encrypted with keys we never hold. Atomic Mail can't read it, and neither can anyone who asks us for it.
10 aliases at no cost
Give online shops, newsletters and new accounts an alias instead of your real address, and switch between aliases when you write.
Protected mail for Outlook and Gmail users
Lock a message with a password or set it to expire, so it stays private even when the person you write to uses Outlook.com or Gmail.
Privacy Center in the sidebar
Check your privacy analytics and open every privacy setting from one place in the desktop app.
No phone number, no backup email
Create your address without linking it to a phone number or another inbox. You recover the account with a seed phrase you keep yourself.
How to install Atomic Mail on Windows
It takes a few minutes, and there's no account setup to do in Outlook or any other mail program.
Download the installer
Click Download for Windows on this page. Your browser saves the free installer, AtomicMailSetup.exe, from atomicmail.io.
Run the setup file
Open AtomicMailSetup.exe from your Downloads folder and follow the steps on screen, then start Atomic Mail.
Create an address or sign in
Make a new @atomicmail.io address with no phone number, or sign in with the account you already use on iPhone, Android, Mac or the web.
Write down your seed phrase
New accounts get a seed phrase. Keep it offline, away from your PC: Atomic Mail can't reset your keys, so the phrase is how you get back in if you forget your password.
Rather not install anything?
Open atomicmail.io in Edge, Chrome, Firefox or another browser and sign in. The web app uses the same account and the same encryption.
Atomic Mail, Outlook and Thunderbird: provider or program?
Outlook, the new Outlook for Windows and Thunderbird are email programs: they show mail from the accounts you connect. Atomic Mail is an email provider, the service that holds your address and mailbox, and it ships its own Windows app.
What that means on your PC:
A provider, not just a program. Your Atomic Mail address and mailbox live with Atomic Mail. The Windows app is how you read them on your desktop.
Privacy is decided by the provider. An email program can't add end-to-end encryption to mail that a provider keeps readable. Atomic Mail encrypts on your PC before mail to other Atomic Mail users leaves it.
Not in Outlook or Thunderbird yet. Atomic Mail has no IMAP or SMTP access today, so you can't add it as an account in Outlook, the new Outlook or Thunderbird. IMAP is on the roadmap.
Keep Outlook for work. If your job gives you a Microsoft 365 mailbox, keep it in Outlook and run Atomic Mail next to it for private email.
One account on every device. The address you use in the Windows app also works on iPhone, Android, Mac and in any browser.
Atomic Mail vs Outlook.com on Windows
Outlook.com is the free Microsoft mailbox many Windows users already have. Here's how it compares with Atomic Mail for personal email.
