The private email client for Linux
Everything you use on Windows, Mac and your phone, now on your Linux desktop. Same account, same encryption, same features.
Encrypted by design
Mail between Atomic Mail users is encrypted on your computer before it's sent, and your stored mailbox uses zero-access encryption, so we can't read it.
10 free aliases
Give sites a different address and keep your real one private. If an alias starts getting spam, you know exactly who leaked it.
No phone number needed
Create an account with just a username and password. No phone, no ID, no link to your other accounts.
Recovery with a seed phrase
Your account is recovered with a seed phrase that only you hold, not through a phone or a backup email.
AI tools that stay private
With Atomic Plus, write, summarize, translate and check grammar right in the app.
Packages for Ubuntu and Fedora
Install from a .deb or .rpm package, like any other Linux app. Tested on Ubuntu and Fedora.
A Linux email client and an email provider aren't the same thing
Thunderbird, Evolution and Geary are email clients: programs that read mail from an account you already have. They don't change who stores your mail or who holds the keys to it.
Your provider stores your mail and holds the keys to it.
Zero-access encryption: Atomic Mail can't read your stored mail.
Atomic Mail is both: an encrypted email service with its own address, and a desktop app to use it on Linux. The app works with Atomic Mail accounts; connecting Atomic Mail to Thunderbird and other clients over IMAP isn't available yet and is on our roadmap.
Looking for Outlook on Linux?
Microsoft doesn't make an Outlook desktop app for Linux, so most people use Outlook.com in a browser tab or an unofficial wrapper. If you're on Linux anyway, it's a good moment to move to email that's private by design.

Questions about Atomic Mail for Linux
What is the best email client for Linux?
It depends on what you need. Thunderbird, Evolution and Geary are good for reading mail from accounts you already have. If privacy is the priority, Atomic Mail gives you an encrypted email account and a desktop app for Ubuntu and Fedora in one.
Is Atomic Mail free on Linux?
Yes. The Linux app costs nothing, and the free plan includes end-to-end encryption, 10 aliases and unlimited storage. Atomic Plus is an optional paid plan with more aliases, Hide My Email and AI tools.
Which Linux distributions are supported?
We ship a .deb package for Ubuntu and an .rpm package for Fedora, and both are tested there. On other distributions, use Atomic Mail in your browser.
Is there an AppImage, Flatpak or Snap?
Not at the moment. Atomic Mail for Linux is available as .deb and .rpm packages.
Is there Outlook for Linux?
Microsoft doesn't offer an Outlook desktop app for Linux; Outlook.com works in the browser. Atomic Mail is a private alternative with a desktop app for Ubuntu and Fedora.
Can I add Atomic Mail to Thunderbird?
Not yet. IMAP support is on our roadmap. Until then, use the Atomic Mail app or the web app.
Is my email encrypted in the Linux app?
Yes. The Linux app uses the same encryption as Atomic Mail everywhere else: mail between Atomic Mail users is encrypted on your computer before it's sent, your stored mailbox uses zero-access encryption, and your data is kept in ISO 27001-certified data centres in Germany.
Can I use the same account on my phone and other computers?
Yes. Sign in with the same account on Linux, Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android or the web.
